Happy New Year

Robert and Ricky are in Utah visiting a good friend who moved. So I find myself watching movies and playing computer with the other children instead of partying up the New Year. Since we aren't really partying this year, I thought I would reminisce on a New Year Eve of the past. The kids and I laughed and had fun remembering New Year 2006. The kids made four yard sacks full of newspaper confetti. We moved all the furniture out of the room to make clean up easier.

Robert has since outlawed confetti. Anyway, I wish everyone a Happy New Year 2010!

Ice Cream

Well, it has been one year since I decided to start blogging and I guess I didn't really get very far in that time. Maybe this year will be better.

We went to Portland, OR to spend Thanksgiving with Robert's sister, Patty. We had a great time. They took us to go see an amazing waterfall. The boys hiked all the way to the top of the trail. The girls, well, we made it about a mile before Taylor needed a bathroom and Alex got a headache due to allergies. After hiking, Patty and Sam said we HAD to get ice cream. Of course it was freezing outside, but as the saying goes - when in Rome, do as the Romans. What you don't see in the picture is my legs shaking or my teeth chattering.

Little Ricky

While decorating the tree this year, Robert found Ricky's kindergarten year ornament. Our little baby has grown up quite a bit. Robert wanted to get a picture to document how cute Ricky was at 5 years old and how cute he still is at 16.

Family Christmas Photos

We haven't taken a family photo since October 2007 at HEB camp. We figured it was time. But getting five children to cooperate (without Dad getting too upset at everyone or one child storming off) was quite a feat!

Jolly Old Saint Nick

I finally convinced all the kids to pose this year with Santa at our ward Christmas party. Alex usually won't.

Créche Display

Last Tuesday we attended the créche display put on for the community by the Church. There were over 400 créches displayed. There were groups from all over Simi that were invited to come perform musical numbers. It was a wonderful program and display. While we were there, the local Acorn newspaper was there. What a delight to find out that Taylor's picture in the paper! She is standing with our friend Cheryl. If you look in the background you will see Kevin and Alex too. Here's the link to the entire newspaper article. http://www.simivalleyacorn.com/news/2008/1212/faith/039.html

What's in a Name?

I have finally decided to take the plunge and start blogging. The first hurdle... choosing a name. We had an entertaining evening trying to decide on a perfect (or at least suitable) name. Contestants included Constant Chaos, Blomquist Bedlam, The Blomquist Blog - followed by a "how original" comment, Blogquists, and Babbling Blomquist. When we looked up definitions for babbling, we had a clear winner.

Babbling -
noun
: foolish or meaningless chatter
adjective: chattering or prattling aimlessly
verb: to talk idly, irrationally, excessively, or foolishly

So friends, be warned. This blog is named appropriately. I hope you enjoy my endless, meaningless chatter.
